Volunteers play a vital role at Cougar Mountain Zoo

Our mission of “Conservation through Education” is strengthened by their dedication and passion to be a voice for wildlife around the world. The Cougar Mountain Zoo Volunteer Program offers a variety of unique experiences for qualified volunteers.

How To Apply:

Fill out and submit the Volunteer Application online by using the link below. Once your application has been reviewed, you will be contacted for the next steps. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and commit a minimum of 4 consecutive hours per scheduled shift.

Docent (Education & Fundraising)

Serve as an interpreter, roving Zoo grounds interacting with visitors and educating them on the Zoo’s collection and fundraising programs. Docents after a dedicated period of time may also assist in, mini-lectures, outreaches, gift-shop, behavioral observations, and animal care.

Maintenance

Volunteers with construction and maintenance skills may assist in many areas throughout the year.

Fundraising/Promotions

A vital position to aid in procuring funding for our education programs and animal collection. 

Landscaping

Assist with planting, cultivating flowers and maintaining shrubs and trees.  Gardeners also research the viability of introducing new flora into animal habitats and general landscaping throughout the Zoo.

Keeper Aide

Volunteers with the required aptitude may work towards becoming a Volunteer Aide, assisting Zookeepers in supportive roles (minimum age 21). There are no Volunteer openings in this category at this time.
